Contra La Causa De Las Guerras Después de la horrible hecatombe europea cuyo 14 aniversario se cumple en estos días quedan ya muy pocos individuos con suficiente coraje y desvergüenza para asegurar que la guerra es un bien. Por el contrario, gobernantes, políticos, jefes de iglesia, publicistas y pensadores la han condenado con rara unanimidad, considerándola como el mas monstruoso de los crímenes. Pero... mientras las conferencias antibélicas se multiplican, siguen las naciones ensayando nuevos y mas terribles medios de matanza, armándose hasta los dientes y agudizando los odios raciales y conflictos económicos por medio de la insensata prédica patriotera de la prensa y hasta de la escuela, como si todos tuvieran prisa de provocar una nueva catástrofe. Ante esas pruebas concluyentes de la insinceridad de casi todos los gobernantes pseudo pacifistas, cabe preguntar %C0Qué hacer para evitar realmente el estadillo de una nueva guerra? Para nosotros la respuesta se presenta bien clara: combatiendo el capitalismo. Régimen de minoría y privilegio, el sistema burgués necesita el engaño o de la violencia para sostenerse. Y hoy desata la reacción estatal contra los obreros organizados; mañana neutraliza los pacíficos avances populares, por medio de la dictadura; somete, pasado, a su albedrío con las armas imperialistas a las naciones débiles, y, cuando no le queda otro medio de eliminar a una rival poderosa, le declara la guerra. Esta es, pues, uno de los tantos aspectos de la reacción capitalista. Siendo así, lógicamente la lucha contra la guerra debe ser una lucha revolucionaria contra el capital. Revolucionaria, porque veinte siglos de fracaso cristianismo han demostrado que solo por la fuerza se logra arrancar a una minoría dominadora sus privilegios. Y anticapitalista, pues siendo el capitalismo la causa originaria de la guerra, es natural que se deba combatir a aquél para hacer desaparecer a ésta que es su efecto. Cuando mañana, por obra de su creciente organización y fuerza; los trabajadores lleguen a suprimir la propiedad individual y la explotación, desaparecerán automáticamente todos estos problemas del militarismo, la guerra, el fascismo, etc. Pues, siendo los obreros los dueños de la producción, no tendrían interés ni beneficio alguno en sostener ejércitos ni armamentos inútiles para ellos, ni barreras aduaneras perjudiciales al desarrollo económico de los pueblos, ni escuelas chauvinistas, ni voceros del patrioterismo irracional; desde que todo eso careciera de objeto, al no existir los encontrados intereses que hoy les dan origen. En síntesis: todo sincero pacifista debe ser un activo militante en las organizaciones anticapitalistas de su preferencia y un propagandista de la unidad de acción de los trabajadores, única fuerza capaz de voltear al régimen burgués. Y quien busque salidas por otro lado no hará sino perderse tontamente en las ramas; pues désele las vueltas que se quiera y míresele por donde se le mire el problema de la lucha contra la guerra no tiene otra solución posible.

Against the Cause of War After the horrible European hecatomb, whose 14th anniversary is in a few days, there are few individuals with enough courage and shamelessness to assert that war is a good thing. On the contrary, governments, politicians, leaders of the Church, publicists and thinkers have condemned it with rare unanimity, considering it one of the most monstrous crimes. But... while the anti-war conferences multiply, nations continue trying out new and more terrible forms of slaughter, arming themselves heavily and sharpening racial hatred and economic conflict through the senseless patriotic discourse of the press and even of the schools, as if everyone was in a hurry to provoke a new catastrophe. In response to the evidence of the insincerity of almost all pseudo pacifistic rulers, one must ask, "What to do to truly avoid the declaration of a new war?" For us the answer is presented clearly: fighting capitalism. Regime of a privileged minority, the bourgeois system requires either deception or violence to sustain itself. And today it unleashes the state's reaction against the organized workers; tomorrow it neutralizes the pacific populist advances through the means of a dictatorship; Lastly, it enforces its will on weaker nations through imperialist arms, and, when it has no other means of eliminating a powerful rival, it declares war against it. This is, therefore, one of the many aspects of the capitalist reaction. Being so, logically the fight against war must be a revolutionary fight against capital. Revolutionary, because twenty centuries of fraudulent Christianity has demonstrated that only by force is it possible to snatch a dominating minority from its privileges. And, anti-capitalist, because capitalism being the original cause of war, it is natural to fight against it to get rid of that which is its effect. When tomorrow, by organizing and gaining strength, the workers manage to abolish individual property and exploitation, all these problems of militarism, war, fascism, etc. will automatically disappear. Therefore, being the workers the owners of production, there will be no interest or benefit in maintaining armies useless to them, nor customs inspections damaging to the economic development of villages, nor chauvinist schools, nor spokesmen of irrational patriotism; since all these lack purpose, being that the interests that give them origin will no longer be. In summary: all sincere pacifists must be militantly active in anti-capitalist organizations of their preference and propagandists of worker solidarity, the only force capable of toppling the bourgeois regime. And he who looks for another way out will foolishly lose himself in the branches; so no matter how you try and look at it the fight against war doesn't have any other possible solutions.
